Halogen Software sponsors workshop from renowned thought leader to demystify succession planning and help HR leaders address challenges
Ottawa, ON – January 27, 2011 – Noted talent and succession planning expert and author, Dr. William Rothwell, will lead a powerful, one-day succession planning boot camp for HR professionals in Dallas, TX on February 25th.
Sponsored by Halogen Software, the workshop offers HR professionals from organizations of all sizes with a cost effective opportunity to gain an improved understanding of succession planning best practices. Participants will receive a practical framework for implementing a succession planning program within their organization, while earning HRCI recertification credits.
Many business drivers – from corporate governance legislation, to skilled labor shortages, to generational demographic shifts – have placed succession planning on the agenda of executives worldwide. Research has also linked effective succession planning to improved employee engagement, retention and ROI on development resources , as well as superior corporate performance , making the practice an even more compelling business imperative.
“Even with executive buy in, the task of implementing a succession program typically falls to HR practitioners who may not have access to the latest information on where to begin,” said Dr. Rothwell. “I’m very pleased to be able to share both theoretical and practical talent and succession planning resources with HR leaders in this upcoming workshop. The one-day format I’ve worked on with Halogen has already proven very successful.”
John Derry, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Kansas City Southern Railway Company was impressed by the inaugural succession planning boot camp led by Dr. Rothwell at the Halogen Software User Conference. “Dr. Rothwell was able to take a lot of research and information and boil it down to real world action plans. He provided great depth and experience on the topics presented – we were very pleased Halogen offered the session to us in 2010.”
During the workshop Dr. Rothwell will cover concepts from talent development to competency models and answer questions about:
- Getting started with succession planning and talent management
- Defining and clarifying the terminology around succession and replacement planning
- Convincing decision-makers of the need – even if they don’t recognize it yet
- The range of choices for getting started
The workshop also provides practical demonstrations of Dr. Rothwell’s succession planning model in action, and is pre-approved for 7.5 HRCI Recertification Credit Hours.
