Halogen Software On-Demand Environment Audited in Accordance With Three Industry Recognized Type II Auditing Standards

Halogen Software One of the First SaaS Providers Worldwide to Complete ISAE 3402, SAS 70, and SSAE 16 Audits Related to its Security and Operational Controls

OTTAWA, ON – March 7, 2011 – Halogen Software Inc., a leading provider of talent management software today announced it is one of the first software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers in the world to have completed the following Type II audits: the International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) No. 3402, The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, and the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16. Conducted by Deloitte & Touche LLP, these audits reviewed certain security and operational controls for Halogen’s Talent Management On-Demand environment.

The resulting Independent Service Auditor’s Report from Deloitte & Touche provides assurances to Halogen customers that the specific controls examined are effective. Conducted in globally accepted reporting frameworks, these audits also provide consistency in how this information is reported to Halogen Software’s U.S. and international customers.

“We want our customers to have complete trust and confidence in how Halogen Software manages and stores their data,” says Jon Whittington, Information Security Officer, Halogen Software. “These audits demonstrate the effectiveness of the examined controls without requiring our customers to conduct the testing and validation themselves, which means considerable time and cost savings for them.”

  • The ISAE No. 3402 audit is a new internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). It provides a globally accepted reporting standard in which to examine a service organization’s controls.
  • The SAS No. 70 audit recognizes that a service organization has completed an audit of certain control objectives and activities defined by management in compliance to the reporting standard set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
  • On June 15, 2011 the SSAE No. 16 will update the AICPA’s SAS No. 70 reporting standard to provide better alignment with the new international service organization reporting standard, ISAE 3402. Unlike the SAS No. 70 standard, SSAE No. 16 requires that a written management assertion be included in the report on an organization’s controls designs, objectives and implementation.

“While SSAE 16 doesn’t replace SAS 70 until June, we adopted all three standards now to demonstrate Halogen Software’s commitment to a strong internal control environment,” says Paul Loucks, President and CEO, Halogen Software. “In our focus to deliver a world class experience to our customers we want to provide transparency in how we manage and store their data. I’m pleased that Halogen has been able to complete all three audits and receive an unqualified opinion regarding the design and effectiveness of the internal controls examined in the report.”
