What We Learned at the 2015 HR Technology Conference

The HR Technology Conference (HR Tech) is one of our favorite shows. We’ve said this before and we mean it.

One of the amazing things about this conference is that it provides the ability to meet HR leaders face-to-face and learn about their talent management goals and the people and business outcomes they want technology to enable for them.

And those outcomes are critically important. They should be the starting point of any technology vendor discussion. Because technology for technology’s sake means nothing.

At this year’s conference, held earlier this week, we had the opportunity to dive into this point in two video interviews led by HR blogger Tim Sackett.

First, Tim spoke with Tina Jones, VP of HR for Genomatica – a leader in biochemical technology processes – on how her organization uses performance management technology to drive its talent strategies. Take a look:

Tim also spoke with Barry Stern, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Accelerated Development Solutions for DDI, a Halogen partner. Tim and Barry discussed how leadership development is a critical element to effective performance management practices. Barry also shares how technology can support and enable leaders in coaching their teams more effectively. Watch the interview here:

HR Tech Conference breakout session spotlight for NASCO, LLC

At this year’s conference Barbara Bell-Dees, the VP of HR for NASCO, LLC led a breakout session in the Learning & Development track on her organization’s journey to becoming a high-performing learning organization.

Barbara shared the business imperative behind this journey - that failure to develop its talent would inhibit the organization’s growth strategy. But what she also shared was how effective change management practices and partnering with the right performance management vendor were critical steps in the journey:


HR technology is awesome sure, but not in and of itself

As the saying goes: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.” Determine where you need to get to then find the right talent management vendor to help.
