How To Be A Great Career Agent For Your Employees

“What’s in it for me?”

That’s the question you should be answering for your employees when you make requests of them. That’s being a career agent.

When you make requests, give feedback or coach an employee, you need buy-in from them. They need to know that what they’re getting from their manager is going to help them in their career.

Welcome to the first episode of TalentTalks, where Kris Dunn (not that Kris Dunn) and I, Tim Sackett, will be talking about how organizations can make their managers better coaches.

In our first episode, Kris and I will be answer questions like:

  1. What is a career agent?
  2. What steps do managers need to take to become great career agents?
  3. Why should you help employees grow and be more valuable in the talent marketplace?
  4. How will being a great career agent benefit my team and organization?
  5. What are the hardest parts of becoming a great career agent?
