This past October, Business Insider editor Jacquelyn Smith listed 18 signs that you have a terrible boss. Smith’s article provides some excellent advice for managers and employees on what they can do to improve their situation.
In the midst of talking about year-end HR processes, the article sparked some great discussion around our office. The signs evoked a range of emotions, from the understanding, “Oh yeah, I’ve worked for someone like that”, to the downright appalled, “Bosses don’t really act this way, do they?”
It then begged the question: How many managers out there realize they exhibit these signs? And if they are unaware of how they act, how can they improve?
After all, 70-80% of the workforce reports to a frontline manager, making it even more important that they are great leaders for their employees to follow.
