Michael Slaunwhite - Executive Chairman
Mike Slaunwhite co-founded Halogen Software in 1996, becoming President and CEO, and later Executive Chairman. Under his team’s leadership, Halogen evolved from a small division within Manta Corporation, a consulting firm, into an independent company and leading provider of web-based employee performance and talent management software. Prior to joining Halogen, Mike was a key member of the executive team at Corel Corporation, holding the position of Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. In 1989, he orchestrated Corel’s initial public offering, and in 1992 led the company’s secondary offering with Morgan Stanley and its concurrent NASDAQ listing.
Mike has a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours, with majors in accounting, finance & computer science from Carleton University. Dean’s List scholarship.
Paul Loucks - President and CEO
Paul Loucks joined Halogen Software in January 2000, and has been instrumental in positioning the company as a leader in the employee performance and talent management market. Under Paul’s leadership, Halogen has achieved consistent revenue growth, quarter over quarter, and has built a roster of nearly 2000 customers worldwide. He is a frequent speaker and author on talent and performance management trends, issues and success strategies. Paul has spoken at industry conferences for leading organisations such as NYSAE and IHRIM, and has published articles in numerous HR publications. In 2001 Paul was recognised for his leadership and accomplishments, winning a “Top Forty under 40” award from Ottawa Business Journal. Prior to joining Halogen, Paul was founder and president of NeoDyne Consulting. The company was named one of Canada’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies by Profit Magazine and was recognised as an “Up and Comer” by the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. It was acquired by Compaq Canada in 1997.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Computer Science, with Distinction, from the Technical University of Nova Scotia.
Peter Low, CA - Chief Financial Officer
Pete joined Halogen Software as Chief Financial Officer in 2006. He brings a wealth of financial and business experience to the role, having spent 16 years in the accounting and investment profession prior to joining the company. As CFO, Pete is directly responsible for the Finance and Administration, Legal and Information Technology departments. Prior to joining Halogen, Pete was a Managing Partner at Axis Capital Corporation, investing in early stage technology companies. He was actively involved in the strategic activities of many of the firm’s portfolio companies, serving as a Director, and in merger and acquisition activities, selling two portfolio companies to IBM and Microsoft. In 2002, Pete was recognised for his leadership and contributions as a recipient of the Ottawa Business Journal's "Top Forty under 40" award. Prior to Axis, Pete was a Senior Tax Manager at Deloitte LLP servicing their high technology clients. Pete is currently a Director of the Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA) and an advisor to Engage!, a not-for-profit organisation designed to promote and inspire charitable giving back to Ottawa's community.
Pete is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate from Mount Allison University.
Marc Brûlé - Vice President, Professional Services
Marc Brûlé has more than 20 years experience in software development and professional services, and has been with Halogen Software, and its predecessor Manta Corporation, for the past 16 years. As Vice President of Professional Services, Marc oversees the customer support, implementation consulting, training and technical services teams. Marc’s organisation drives the company’s commitment to outstanding professional services and support for all Halogen customers. His team's success has been recognised many times over by leading industry analysts most recently in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Marc holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Information Management Systems from the University of Ottawa.
Donna Ronayne - Vice President, Marketing & Business Development
With more than 20 years in senior marketing, sales and business development positions at both start-up and established high-tech companies, Donna Ronayne brings extensive experience and a results-oriented approach to Halogen Software. Donna oversees all facets of marketing and business development for the company. Prior to joining Halogen, Donna was Vice President of Business Development at BitFlash, where she defined market strategy and was instrumental in securing strategic partnership agreements with leading companies worldwide including Sharp, Vodafone, Texas Instruments, and IBM. Her contributions at QNX Software (Harmon Industries) led to the successful repositioning of the company as an industry leader.
Donna holds a Bachelor of Commerce, High Honours, from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
Don Sylvester - Vice President, Sales
With more than 20 years of experience in the technology field, Don Sylvester brings proven success in building and maintaining high-speed sales growth. As Vice President of Halogen’s sales organisation, Don has led the team through more than 2 years of record sales growth. Prior to joining the Halogen team in 2006, Don held executive positions at global leaders such as Dell, Corel, Nortel, and Performance Technologies, leading sales teams, driving consistent revenue growth via direct and channel models.
Don holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor.
Dominique Jones - Vice President, Human Resources
Dominique has over 15 years experience in the talent management industry and has held progressively more responsible senior HR roles both in Europe and in North America. Dominique has extensive industry experience, having worked in the retail, manufacturing, financial services, consulting and professional services sectors.
The industry diversity in Dominique's career has led to extensive practical experience in organisational change, aggressive growth initiatives, talent and performance management, and international HR management.
Prior to joining Halogen, Dominique was most recently a regional vice president at Right Management, a global talent management consulting firm. Before that, she held senior HR roles with AMEC, MBNA Canada and MBNA Europe, JCB Transmissions, Safeway, and Marks and Spencer, as well as established her own HR consulting business.
Dominique holds an M.A. Honours degree from St. Andrews University in Scotland, as well as the Institute of Personnel and Development (IPD) certification from the United Kingdom.
Dawn MacKay, Vice President, Product Management
As Vice President of product management for Halogen, Dawn oversees the company’s market-driven product direction.
Having joined the company in 2005, Dawn has been instrumental in helping Halogen become the first and only talent management vendor to deliver a complete, organically built talent management suite spanning performance management, job descriptions, recruiting, 360 feedback, compensation, learning and succession planning.
Under Dawn’s leadership Halogen has also become a market leader across multiple industries, offering 7 vertical solutions to address the unique needs of organizations from healthcare through to hospitality. With more than 25 years of software development and product management experience, Dawn held previous management positions with software companies like NSB Group and STS Systems.
Dawn earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Information Systems with Great Distinction from McGill University.
