Automated Workflow and notifications
To give managers a convenient starting point, Halogen eCompensation provides suggestions for pay increases based on performance ratings and job category, salary scales and other criteria (uses pro-rated salary scales as well). Plus, all tasks and approvals that need to be completed for compensation adjustments are automatically routed to the right people at the right time - and reminder notices are sent out to keep things moving along. Any individuals who are late within the process can be easily identified and automatically sent a reminder notice.
Automated Checks and balances
Managers can rest assured the system will automatically identify and flag allocations which fall outside company-guidelines. Any flagged allocations will display the proper guidelines for both pay scale and budget, allowing for effortless redress. Business rules can be configured that limit manager discretion when allocating adjustments and bonuses.

Instant, intuitive reporting for managers
Compensation managers and line managers have instant access to several report types with drill down capabilities. A summary of the budget distribution is always in plain view and status reports are readily available, indicating where their group stands in the process. Plus, compensation summaries are generated for each employee and their histories tracked for handy reference.
Compensation fully integrated with performance appraisals
Halogen eCompensation can be purchased as a standalone product, or fully integrated with Halogen eAppraisal, eAppraisal Healthcare, eAppraisal Financial Services and eAppraisal Professional Services. Our integrated solution allows for employee appraisal scores to automatically populate a merit matrix. Based on appraisal scores the system will provide suggestions for individual compensation adjustments. As you are determining raises, not only is the appraisal score shown but you also have quick access to the employees' performance appraisals, goals, journal notes and development plans enabling you take these into consideration - allowing you to truly pay for performance.
Process Administration Features
Simple and flexible set up
Administrators follow a straightforward menu system for setting up sophisticated compensation processes. The flexible workflow allows administrators to choose the steps and approvals to be used in the process. Salary scales can be imported from internal or external sources and then edited as required or created from scratch.
Convenient options
Halogen eCompensation fully supports merit-based adjustments for base pay, variable pay, lump sum bonuses and stock options. Administrators can pre-set two distribution options. They can provide line managers with the flexibility to use their discretion when distributing budgets or they can allocate the same percentage increase across all departments and allow line managers to make adjustments within these allocations. Administrators can also run as many different processes as needed for various groups. The system will automatically update employee records with new compensation packages and track histories.
Bonus Calculator
Supplies managers with the detailed information they need to calculate or validate each employee's bonus payout based on the achievement of any number of individual, team and company objectives. Participants in the compensation process can be assigned any number of bonus profiles, each detailing the individual metrics that will make up the target bonus.
Minimum, target and maximum (exceeding the 100% of target) payouts can be defined for each metric. The bonus calculator will determine the total bonus payout for each employee amount based on level of achievement of the metric.
Merit matrix
An optional merit matrix is generated and can be employed for each individual job code - or a 'default' merit matrix can be employed process-wide. Administrators have the option to include employee performance appraisal scores in the merit matrix. These scores can be linked automatically when Halogen eCompensation is used with Halogen eAppraisal.
Automated workflow and notifications
Administrators no longer have to run after managers to ensure tasks are being completed - and completed on time. Tasks and approvals are automatically routed to the right person. Automated notification reminders can also be used to help keep processes on track.
Instant, intuitive reporting functionality
Administrators have real-time access to a number of reports for all processes underway. Report types include:
- Detailed status reports—real-time progress monitoring for all individuals and all processes
- Budget Flow down reports—details of budget allocations by department for the entire organization
- Compensation Adjustment Reports—an instant overview of company-wide compensation adjustments, with drill down capabilities
Once the process is complete, all compensation data can be easily exported to the organization's pay or financial system.
