CIPD Employee Outlook Survey: Spring 2017
The spring 2017 CIPD/Halogen Employee Outlook survey shows that there continues to be positive trends in the areas of job satisfaction, engagement and attitudes toward senior leaders. However, manager-employee feedback and development opportunities continue to be a challenge.
Almost one-fifth of the workforce (18 per cent) aren’t getting any feedback and recognition for their performance and 41 per cent indicated they receive it only once or twice a year. Further, almost one-quarter of respondents say their organisations don’t provide opportunities to learn and grow and an additional 20 per cent are dissatisfied with opportunities they are given to develop skills on the job.
Organisations can use the data in this report to inform decisions about their talent management strategy. It highlights opportunities for employers to engage employees in meaningful discussions on career progression, development and recognition. When managers improve their coaching and communication to help employees achieve their career aspirations, they’ll have a more engaged and productive team.

- Most employees aren’t highly motivated by their organisation’s core purpose
There continues to be concerns that the Brexit decision will increase the cost of doing business, though most respondents don’t feel it will impact their job.
