President and CEO
Paul has more than 25 years of experience in high technology. He joined Halogen Software in January 2000, became President in August 2000 and assumed the CEO role in November 2006. Under Paul’s guidance, Halogen has emerged as a leader in the employee performance and talent management market. The company has achieved consistent revenue growth and has built a strong global customer base.
In recognition of his leadership, accomplishments and community building efforts Paul was named CEO of the Year by the Best Ottawa Business Awards in 2013 and received a "Top Forty under 40" award from Ottawa Business Journal in 2001. Prior to joining Halogen, Paul was founder and President of NeoDyne Consulting, a custom software development firm that was named one of Canada's 100 Fastest Growing Companies by Profit Magazine and named an "Up and Comer" by The Globe and Mail's Report on Business. In 1997, NeoDyne Consulting was acquired by Compaq Canada.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Computer Science, with Distinction, from the Technical University of Nova Scotia.
Vice President, Client Services
Marc has more than 20 years experience in software development and professional services, and has been with Halogen Software, and its predecessor Manta Corporation, for the past 16 years.
As Vice President of Client Services, Marc oversees the customer support, implementation consulting, training and technical services programs. Marc's organization drives the company's commitment to outstanding professional services and support for all Halogen customers. His team's success has been recognized many times over by leading industry analysts every year since 2008.
Marc holds an Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Management Systems from the University of Ottawa.
Vice President, Corporate Development
Marc has more than 20 years of experience in the software industry. As Vice President Corporate Development, he oversees Halogen’s corporate development activities, including strategic partnerships and merger and acquisitions to help fuel the company’s growth.
Prior to joining Halogen in 2014, Marc was involved with various startups and was instrumental in taking them from early stage to acquisition. He served as VP of Business Development at BrightSpark Ventures, a next-generation venture capital firm that invests to build and grow early-stage software companies. He then became VP of Business Development at Think Dynamics and was instrumental in the company being acquired by IBM to become part of its autonomic computing initiative. Marc held various positions spanning over a decade at IBM, where he worked on an assortment of acquisition deals within IBM that contributed to the company’s revenue and extended its technological footprint.
Marc holds a BA in Communications from the University of Windsor. He also holds an Honors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Windsor.
Vice President, Human Resources
Dominique has over 15 years experience in the talent management industry and has held progressively more responsible senior HR roles both in Europe and in North America. Dominique has extensive industry experience, having worked in the retail, manufacturing, financial services, consulting and professional services sectors.
The industry diversity in Dominique's career has led to extensive practical experience in organizational change, aggressive growth initiatives, talent and performance management, and international HR management.
Prior to joining Halogen, Dominique was most recently a regional vice president at Right Management, a global talent management consulting firm. Before that, she held senior HR roles with AMEC, MBNA Canada and MBNA Europe, JCB Transmissions, Safeway, and Marks and Spencer, as well as established her own HR consulting business.
Dominique holds an M.A. Honours degree from St. Andrews University in Scotland, as well as the Institute of Personnel and Development (IPD) certification from the United Kingdom.
Pete Low, CPA, CA
Chief Financial Officer
Pete joined Halogen Software as Chief Financial Officer in September 2006, and is directly responsible for the Company’s finance and administration, legal, information technology, and security, risk and compliance functions.
With over 25 years of financial management experience, Pete was instrumental in guiding the company through their Initial Public Offering on the TSX in May 2013, and has helped the company grow to almost 500 employees in 6 different countries.
Prior to joining Halogen, Pete was a Managing Partner at Axis Capital Corporation, investing in early stage technology companies. He was actively involved in the strategic direction of many of the firm's portfolio companies, serving as either Chief Financial Officer or a Director for many of them. In 2001, Pete was recognized for his leadership and contributions as a recipient of the Ottawa Business Journal's "Top Forty under 40" award. Prior to founding Axis, Pete was a Senior Tax Manager at Deloitte LLP, servicing its high technology clients. Pete has served on a number of boards and committees of for-profit and non-profit organizations.
Pete is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mount Allison University.
Vice President, Product Management
As Vice President of Product Management for Halogen, Dawn oversees the company's market-driven product direction.
Having joined the company in 2005, Dawn has been instrumental in helping Halogen become the first and only talent management vendor to deliver a complete, organically built talent management suite spanning performance management, job descriptions, recruiting, 360 feedback, compensation, learning and succession planning.
Under Dawn's leadership Halogen has also become a market leader across multiple industries, offering 7 vertical solutions to address the unique needs of organizations from healthcare through to hospitality. With more than 25 years of software development and product management experience, Dawn held previous management positions with software companies like NSB Group and STS Systems.
Dawn earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Information Systems with Great Distinction from McGill University.
Vice President, Marketing & Business Development
With more than 20 years in senior marketing, sales and business development positions at both start-up and established high-tech companies, Donna brings extensive experience and a results-oriented approach to Halogen Software. Donna oversees all facets of marketing and business development for the company.
Prior to joining Halogen, Donna was Vice President of Business Development at BitFlash, where she defined market strategy and was instrumental in securing strategic partnership agreements with leading companies worldwide including Sharp, Vodafone, Texas Instruments, and IBM. Her contributions at QNX Software (Harmon Industries) led to the successful repositioning of the company as an industry leader.
Donna holds a Bachelor of Commerce, High Honors, from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
Vice President, Sales
Phil joined Halogen Software in November 2013 as Vice President of Sales. With more than 30 years of experience managing diverse channels, geographies, verticals and product lines, Phil has a proven track record in maximizing market opportunities, growing annual recurring revenue and driving international expansion.
Voted one of the industry’s top 20 executives by VAR Business, Phil has held senior leadership positions at some of the world’s most recognizable enterprise software providers, including VMware/Integrien, IBM/FileNet, Oracle, Informix and Alta Vista. Prior to joining Halogen, Phil was CEO of Factonomy, an international software company specializing in business continuity and disaster recovery.
Phil holds a BA in Mathematics from Wagner College.
General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Michael has an extensive background as a senior lawyer spanning 20 years in the technology industry, including publicly-traded multinationals, Internet, telecom and software companies. Michael joined Halogen as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in March 2014.
Initially counsel to publicly-traded software company Delrina Corporation (acquired by Symantec), Michael has held increasingly senior in-house roles at CIBC, Newbridge Networks and Alcatel -Lucent. With Alcatel-Lucent, Michael was Senior Counsel responsible for all worldwide legal matters for the Internet Protocol Division, Canadian Research and Innovation Group, and certain of Alcatel-Lucent’s largest customers.
Most recently, Michael was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), which is responsible for the .ca Top Level Domain (TLD). As a key member of CIRA’s senior management team, Michael helped CIRA to become the world’s fastest growing country TLD.
Michael holds a B.A. (Hons) in History and English Literature as well as an L.L.B from Queen’s University.
Vice President, Product Development
Karen joined Halogen Software in January, 2015 as Vice President of Product Development, overseeing all aspects of product development for the company. She brings more than two decades of experience in the high tech industry to Halogen, and extensive knowledge of business analytics and predictive development.
Prior to joining Halogen, Karen was Vice President of the global Business Analytics Business Intelligence & Predictive Analytics Development team at IBM Software Group. In this role, Karen was responsible for the development and delivery of the analytic software that is used in organizations globally to report, analyze and predict their business results.
Karen has also held several other key management positions throughout her career at both IBM and Cognos. As Vice President of Customer Success and Support for the global IBM Business Analytics Support organization, Karen was responsible for facilitating customer success with Business Analytics software. Prior to this, Karen held the position of Director, Product Operations as well as Vice President, Product Marketing at Cognos, which was acquired by IBM in 2008.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Toronto.
