I’m back in the office today after spending the last three days with our customers at our annual user conference. What a blast. I want to personally thank everyone who made the trip to Ottawa and for helping to make this year’s conference the best yet. A special thank you goes out to our speakers for their hard work and for sharing their talent management best practices and experience with the group.

One of the highlights of the first day was the extremely funny keynote speaker, Mike Kerr. (My cheeks are still sore from laughing for an hour straight!) He provided advice on how organizations can Put Humor to Work in the Workplace and gain some astonishing results. He really got the crowd going with all of his great ideas, not to mention the ‘fun dance’. A few brave customers even won prizes for their own rendition of it. Laughs aside, Mike provided some great tips for using humor to reduce stress, spark creative thinking and improve communication. There are a few ideas I plan to use shortly, so hopefully my team is ready!

Our evening gala provided a great opportunity for everyone to mingle and then get out on the dance floor. (I think we actually had two dance floors going - talk about a fun group!) The Bright Lights awards were presented at the gala to three of our customers who achieved great results for their organizations, and I’ll be posting on them and their achievements in the next few days.

Many customers and Halogen staff presented throughout the conference, with too many wonderful ideas and tips to share here. Personally, my favorite part of the conference was reconnecting with customers who attend year after year - and getting to meet new customers in person and getting to know them better. I’ve worked at several different technology companies over the years and it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful Halogen’s customers are. They really do ‘rock’!

Hope you can join us next September for the fourth annual user conference. Details to follow in early 2009.
