HR’s evolving role has become a popular theme. I seem to keep reading articles and blog entries that say now, more than ever, organizations need their HR teams to play a more strategic role, helping to guide people related programs and strategies so organizations can become more efficient and weather the current economic downturn.
But not everyone is equipped to make the transition. Part of the challenge is freeing up HR’s time. Talent management processes can be labor intensive and need strong administration, but they are vital; that part of our jobs will never completely go away. But playing a more strategic role takes more than just time. It takes a different perspective.
On October 30th, we’ll be hosting a webinar in which Dr. Christopher Lee, Ph.D., SPHR, will explore the top 5 ways you can make the transition from HR team player to business partner:
- Develop the Business Acumen of HR Staff
- Define the Bottom Line in HR Terms
- Champion a Performance Culture
- Create Measures, Metrics and Meaning
- Integrate HR Policies, Programs, Projects and Services
He’ll also present what he believes are the “must have” tools you need to put your HR strategy to work. He says that Human Resources professionals make their greatest impact on the organization’s bottom line by harnessing human potential and directing it towards organizational objectives.
If you’d like to participate in the webinar, register now. It’s sure to be a popular session.
But I’d also like to know what you think… What does it take for HR to become more strategic and respected for their contributions?
