As we mentioned last week, Kris Dunn, of HR Capitalist and Fistful of Talent blogs will be joining us at our 4th Annual Halogen User Conference, scheduled for October 14-15 in Ottawa, to share some social media lessons for HR.
In preparation for that, here’s a little bit of info on one very popular social media service – Twitter.

I promised to follow up on our Web 2.0 discussion and I’m making good…
The Social Networking Conference took place a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve found some good resources from speakers at the event. Shiv Singh of the App Gap has posted his presentation, Web 2.0 and the Enterprise: A Symbiotic Relationship on the blog, free for download. A good general introduction to the benefits and challenges of using social networking in the workplace. In particular he has an interesting perspective on how social media allows each of your employees to act as an ambassador, even a recruiter for your company. Worth a read!

Back in the Fall, we met Steve Boese from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) after reading one of his great blog posts. He teaches the Leveraging Technology course in the Human Resource Development Masters Program at RIT and was looking for a vendor to work with him to provide his students with the opportunity to use a real talent management system. It’s a few months later and now the graduate students in Steve’s class are up and running using the Halogen system in their coursework this quarter.

Recently, I have found quite a few folks blogging about the influence and impact of social networking in the corporate world, specifically how it relates to HR. Most talk about how there is generally a heightened awareness among HR and talent management professionals regarding the benefits of social media technologies for finding and attracting talent, as well as for corporate knowledge sharing (wikis, blogs, etc.)

One of our team’s favorite blogs, Fistful of Talent, has started a new “Don’t Feed the Vendors” series and our very own Sean Conrad is the first blogger to appear as part of it. Way to go Sean!
