William J. Rothwell, Ph.D., SPHR is Professor of Workforce Education and Development in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems on the University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University. Best-known for his extensive and high-profile consulting work in succession planning and talent management, Rothwell is a frequent speaker or keynoter at conferences and seminars around the world. His most recent publications are Effective Succession Planning, 4th ed. (Amacom, 2010), The Manager’s Guide to Maximizing Employee Potential (AMACOM, 2010), and Practicing Organization Development: A Guide for Consultants, 3rd ed (Pfeiffer, 2010).
