New Year’s Resolutions for HRJanuary 6th, 2009 |
|
A few weeks ago we shared the results of our HR’s favorite things survey, which included a section on resolutions for the coming year. As I was reflecting on my own resolutions for the coming year, I started thinking about the answers from HR in the survey – the top two resolutions were to communicate better and to be more strategic. What struck me was that every year we see similar HR resolutions.
There’s no doubt that they are worthwhile and extremely important goals from a business perspective. But I think it is worth examining how HR professionals can break these down into more bite-sized, achievable goals. Does being more strategic mean tying employee goals to overall business objectives or does it mean finding a way to ensure HR is viewed as a strategic asset and a strong part of the management team?
Regardless of what your professional and departmental resolution or goal for 2009 maybe, let’s all take some time this week and make sure it is realistic and achievable. Make a plan so that 2009 can be your year to achieve your goals!
