This year’s holiday fun survey also took at look resolutions… here are a few things HR had to say about making and keeping resolutions:

Favorite 2007 New Years’ Resolutions for the HR Department

Looking ahead to 2008, HR is very focused streamlining processes, and reducing the sheer amount of paper, with 19% indicating this as their main resolution, up by 5% from last year. Next at 10% is a new entry into the top three in this category - HR wanting to serve its customers better in the coming year. Next at 5% - HR wants to get organized. Other resolutions from HR included more/better training, teamwork and making HR more strategic.

Some of our favorites:

  • To not strangle our employees.
  • To get everyone in the right seat on the bus, and get some folks to get off the bus that need to get off (from Jim Collins).
  • Have Fun!

Past Resolutions

Looking forward is always important for HR departments and it seems our respondents have done an excellent job setting goals and sticking to them, both personally and professionally. Respondents say they accomplished last year’s goals, with 63% saying they accomplished the professional goals they set for their departments last year — up by 9% from last year. Way to go HR!

Making it Personal

It seems personal resolutions are just as important to those working in HR. An overwhelming 71% said that they plan to make a personal resolution this year when the clock strikes midnight.
