One of our customers, CentraState Healthcare System in New Jersey has been recognized by IDC for its best practices in talent management. The new study authored by IDC outlines the benefits that the New Jersey-based healthcare system has realized since rolling out Halogen eAppraisal Healthcare in 2005.

CentraState provides a rock solid example of how technology can be a strategic enabler for HR teams and drive real business results. Here are the top 3:

  1. They’ve achieved employer of choice status in the region by focusing on clear and consistent employee communication. Best of all, in September 2008, CentraState was recognized as one of the 100 Best Places to Work by Modern Healthcare. Participating healthcare organizations were ranked on eight core areas and CentraState placed in the top 20. As a healthcare organization, recruiting and retaining talent is always a challenge, so CentraState being able to position itself in this way is a major differentiator.
  2. Since rolling out the system, CentraSate has seen significant time and cost savings. All of their 2500 employees now receive regular performance appraisals and the organization estimates it is saving more than $35,000 per year. As Debbie Whalen, Manager of Organizational Development explains, “This has been a big time saver, with some of our managers estimating that they are saving more than 15 minutes per appraisal. That works out to 631.5 hours saved by our direct managers each year, and that’s not even taking into account how much time we’re saving in HR.”
  3. Many Healthcare organizations are also subject to requirements set out by the Joint Commission. With Halogen’s unique real-time reporting the hospital can monitor and document on-time completion statistics for performance appraisals (they have now increased theirs to 98%!), view individual and group ratings on competencies, compare performance scores to targets and identify training needs across the organization, which are key areas assessed by the Joint Commission.
